The 'Bold' And The Beautiful?
By John Gray
Smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry have this week announced a new addition to their collection of smartphone mobiles, this time it is the turn of the long awaited
Blackberry Bold which is also known as the Blackberry 9000.
The BlackBerry Bold has a large TFT display with the same half VGA resolution as the Apple iPhone's - 480 x 320 pixels, as well as a full qwerty keyboard for those
who use email a lot and the latest Blackberry Operating System 4.6.
The BlackBerry Bold has a 624 MHz processor and 1GB of internal storage. It also has a microSD memory card slot which can currently take 8 GB microSDHC cards,
but once 16 GB cards become available it will also be able to handle these - so running out of memory really shouldn't be a problem with the BlackBerry Bold!
As well as the usual email client, document viewer and document editor the BlackBerry Bold has a media player (which plays MP3, WMA and DivX amongst others) -
so that you can use up some of that massive memory capacity with your favourite music and videos (being a business person does not mean you are averse to
popular music or amusing videos!) The BlackBerry Bold also has a 2 megapixel camera with a built in flash and has in-built GPS and comes with BlackBerry Maps
pre-loaded.
So you really are getting an all round smartphone device here, it has a little bit of everything to suit even the fussiest of smartphone user. The BlackBerry Bold is due
out in mid-summer, although there is no word on pricing as yet expect it to come at a cost!

Blackberry 9000 Bold is an Orange Network Exclusive - Blackberry Bold
By Susan Hargreaves
It has been well over a year now since the initial announcement from Blackberry RIM that they were to launch a handset by the name of Blackberry 9000 Bold, the
forums and blogs of mobile phone enthusiasts lit up at the prospect of a super slim Blackberry device offering the very latest in technology and design.
Well, a year on the handset has finally made it to UK shores and over the past few weeks the forums and blogs have been putting out the rumours of its release date.
The Blackberry Bold was finally launched but has been signed off as a network exclusive to the Orange UK network.
Great news that consumers can finally get their hands on this amazing peice of mobile technology, but not so good news about the exclusivity deal. Consumers can
only buy the Blackberry Bold if they take out a 12 or 18 month contract agreement with Orange, those who would like the handset on a different UK network will have to
wait for this initial exclusive period to end and fro the other networks to pick up the phone.
This means that consumers only have the choice of Orange tariffs which are more commonly known by animal names, ie: Dolphin, Panther and Canary. There is no
way of comparing these deals and packages against other network offerings until the limited time launch period has ended.
It will only be at this point that consumers will find out if they have already bought the new Blackberry Bold on Orange whether they did in fact get a competitive deal.
Although there is a good range of tariffs on offer from the network some consumers stay clear based on the operators customer service history and another very
important fact - Orange lock the handsets to their network.
This means that should a consumer buy a Blackberry Bold on Orange, even when the other networks release this phone theirs will still be locked to Orange, they will
only ever be able to use an Orange registered SIM card. There are various companies that will unlock mobile phones from their initial network settings but with more
complicated devices such as PDAs, smartphones and Blackberry handsests these are not usually available for some time into the release of the phone.
Blackberry Bold 9000, also referred to as the Blackberry Bold, offers all of the best quality features of a Blackberry Messaging smartphone plus extras. Complete with a
large TFT display and handwriting recognition, full Qwerty keyboard and trackball navigation, the Blackberry Bold 9000 is packed with features.
Powered by a 624Mhz processor and running Blackberry's own operating system, the Blackberry Bold offers a 1GB internal memory capacity with the option to expand
to as much as 8GB using the memory card slot that will recognise and support both microSD and microSDHC cards.
A quad band GSM device with GPRS and EDGE technology, the Blackberry Bold 9000 includes 3G connectivity and WiFi capabilities.
Bluetooth wireless with A2DP stereo support is also present as is a USB port, handy for straightforward PC to phone synchronization. Offering a complete messaging
solution that everything from Email to Instant Messaging, the Blackberry Bold 9000 also has a built-in GPS Receiver with the all important Blackberry Maps preloaded
and a whole host of multimedia features that include a 2 mega pixel camera, media player and video player.
Primarily a business device the Blackberry Bold 9000 wouldn't be complete without the traditional PIM functionality, organiser, phonebook, document viewer and editor
or voice dial and built-in handsfree.
Although initially exclusively released on Orange in the UK, the new Blackberry Bold will shortly be available on other mobile networks, so if consumers do not want the
hassle of owning a network locked mobile phone the advice is to wait for the other networks to get their hands on this new and exciting mobile phone.

BlackBerry Bold Review
By Caroline Telford
The BlackBerry has indeed come a long way since it was first introduced as a two-way pager in 1997 by Research in Motion. Today, if you are looking for a smartphone
which supports push e-mail, Internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services - there is no better device to use than the BlackBerry.
This is not to mention the fact that it 'doubles' up as a mobile telephone, supporting calls and text messaging. Due to the ingeniousness behind their wireless
technology networks, even the manufacturers of typical mobile phones in the market are using the BlackBerry e-mail client.
This is so that the phones that they offer can connect to the BlackBerry servers and use the BlackBerry e-mail client.
Example s of these mobile phones are:
- HTC Advantage X7500
- Motorola MPx220
- Nokia 6810 and 6820
- Nokia 9300 and 9500
- Nokia E50, E51, E60, E61, E62, E70 and E90
- Qtek 9100 and 9000
- Siemens SK64
- Samsung t719
- Sony Ericsson P910, M600i and P1
What You Need to Know about the BlackBerry Bold
For the year 2008, RIM decided to introduce the BlackBerry Bold candybar smartphone to the rest of the world. It had a worldwide release on August 21 of this year.
To learn what the BlackBerry Bold has to offer as a smartphone, here is a list of the features:
- 2-Megapixel camera with flash, digital zoom and video recording
- GPS system with extended ephemeris, A-GPS support
- MP3, media and video player
- Wi-Fi accessibility
- HTML browsing
- 128 MB flash memory, 1GB on-board storage, maximum 16GB external storage
- 3.55 mm stereo audio jack
- 13 days standby and 5 hours talktime
A Detailed Look at the Features of BlackBerry Bold
The good thing about the BlackBerry Bold is that it has HSDPA, Wi-Fi and GPS. Also working in its favor is the full QWERTY keypad and the bright screen resolution.
The candybar smartphone may be a little wide for those who are used to handling slimmer phones. However, it does allow users to enjoy a full QWERTY keypad.
When typing away on the complete keypad, you can enjoy seeing it on the widescreen of the BlackBerry Bold.
The manufacturers also decided to overhaul the boring icons by incorporating neon colors on the menu.
When it comes to the features - you will find that the BlackBerry Bold is one nifty device to use. You can access high-seed e-mail and there's Internet accessibility
almost anywhere. One other cool feature that music lovers would appreciate is the inclusion of a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
In addition, the GPS can get you were you need to go. The only downside which can be seen on the BlackBerry Bold is that the 2-Megapixel camera could have been
better.
Also, the screen is easily marred and scratched - and the silver chrome casing could have been made of strong metal instead.
If you will find mobile phone deals within the UK which offer the BlackBerry Bold as part of the package - this is something that you should seriously consider because
this is one good mobile phone to have.
Blackberry Bold Review - Features and Overview
By Caroline Telford
RIM has recently announced the introduction of a new smartphone called the Blackberry Bold. This new offering by RIM will include many new features that have never
been offered in the past on any current Blackberry phones. The Blackberry Bold is also the first Blackberry that has 3G HSDPA technology. The resolution on the
screen will also be higher than on previous Blackberry models and the addition of support when working with Microsoft Office files will make working with the
Blackberry Bold much easier than earlier models.
The Blackberry Gold has a screen size of around 480 x 320, large enough to allow users to use mobile video and read long emails much easier. Because of the larger
display area, the Blackberry Bold is somewhat larger than other recent Blackberries. In spite of the increase in size, it is rather lightweight with an easy to operate
keyboard. This model is the first to include Blackberry 4.6, the newest version of the Blackberry operating system. The Blackberry Gold also includes a 624 MHz
processor and is the first of RIM's phones to support HSDPA high speed networks, GPS and Wi-Fi.
Up until now Blackberry has been behind the eight-ball in working with Microsoft Office files. Instead of old technology, new RIM smartphones including the Blackberry
Bold will utilize the DataViz Documents to Go, a much more stable and premium version among the Mobile Office suites. With Documents to Go you can view
documents and presentations almost exactly as they would appear if you were viewing them on a desktop. This is a definite advantage for those who travel frequently
and use their Blackberry to communicate with their office as well as clients. Keep in mind that in many cases you can only view Microsoft documents, you cannot
change them.
Since the Blackberry Bold is new to the market you will need to search a little more for a Blackberry Bold review. That doesn't mean there are no reviews available but
rather that it will take some time before you will find many reviews on this phone. As you look forward you will discover that once mobile phone deals start to become
available for the Blackberry Bold, it will become more popular and Blackberry Bold reviews will become easier to locate.
Blackberry has always been the most well-known among the smartphones but with so many other manufacturers developing their own smartphones, it's essential for
Blackberry to be able to stay competitive and include some features RIM has never included on the Blackberry but that other smartphones have been using since their
releases. With the competition so stiff for smartphones, RIM has to enter into the 21st century with its offerings and provide users with more features if they are to
remain competitive. The number of "firsts" that are on the Blackberry Bold shows they are on their way to remaining the most popular smartphone on the market in
both the individual as well as business sectors.
